The Schneider Beer Vaults; Austin's example of historic preservation fitting the modern world beautifully.

May 23, 2016

As some of you may know, AmaTerra senior archaeologist, Rachel Feit, moonlights as a food writer for the Austin Chronicle. Her most recent article was a unique opportunity to combine this eciture gastronomique with archaeology. Read her article about the excavations she participated in at the Schneider Beer Vaults beneath the bustling streets of downtown Austin.

Learn how these unique features, once thought to simply be a store room for auto parts, became an integral and singular component of La Condesa Restaurant and see how historic resources like these provide a value and human heritage to modern design that is simply impossible to recreate.

For other examples of historic preservation enhancing modern development, see the presentation we gave to our friends at RVI Planning and Landscape Architecture back in January.
