Looking forward to working in the Kisatchie National Forest, Louisiana

Recently, AmaTerra was awarded a contract to conduct an archaeological survey of 2,542 acres in Compartments 33, 34, and 371 of the Calcasieu Ranger District of the Kisatchie National Forest, Rapides Parish, Louisiana. This investigation was undertaken to partly comply with the U.S. Forest Service’s responsibilities under Section 106 and Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act. An intensive survey is planned, with a pedestrian walkthrough and transect shovel testing, which will assist in determining the efficacy of the predictive model developed for the Forest Service in 2011. AmaTerra will conduct the survey, evaluate the predictive model, and make recommendations for any improvements to maximize site identification within an efficient field effort.
