The City of Austin's Historic Cemeteries Master Plan Receives the Preservation Texas Honor Award

Vice President, Victor Palma, gets right up front.

AmaTerra project manager, Mason Miller, had the opportunity to take the stage at the State Theater in downtown Austin in support of Kim McKnight and the City of Austin's Parks and Recreation Department as they accepted Preservation Texas' Honor Award for Austin's Historic Cemeteries Master Plan.

AmaTerra was the City's prime contractor, working with McDoux Preservation, JMA, and Davey Tree, in developing the Master Plan, a summary and guidance document intended to help in managing the five historic cemeteries it owns. The 700-plus-page Master Plan includes detailed conditions assessments, archival research, GIS data collection and map digitization, public input, tree survey, recommendations for revenue and increased public access, and context-specific landscape planning that will provide a resource for City planners well into the future. Read a discussion of the project in the September 2015 issue of Landscape Architecture Magazine.

AmaTerra's team was excited to have been selected to lead the project and were rightfully proud to have been invited up to accept the award with Kim. Thank you for the exciting experience!
